Secondhand Smoke Can Lead to Spousal Stroke

by Michael Lovitch

You know that smoking isn’t one of your healthiest habits. You might have been trying to quit for a while, even though this can be challenging to do.

There is another reason to stop smoking now- a new study predicts that spouses of smokers are at an increased risk of stroke.

For those who have never smoked, being married to a smoker leads to a 42% increase in risk of stroke. For those who used to smoke, but whose spouse still smokes, the risk of stroke jumps to 72%.

Luckily, hypnosis works for smoking cessation. Now that research suggests that spousal smoking increases risk of stroke, the benefits of quitting may be to save more lives than just your own.

Help my husband quit please - I have been telling him this for years!

Wow, can hynosis really stop a person from smoking without gaining weight? Can the two be controlled at the same time? I do not smoke in my house, thank goodness! My spouse is precious.

They say that smoking is an addiction. Is it really possible for hypnosis to help someone quit smoking and then lessen the chances of their spouse having a stroke? Hypnosis would be should a great alternative.

It is extremely exciting to know that one of the strongest addictions can be altered with hypnosis. Both my husband and I have been smoking for over 30 years … we look so forward to your program helping us to quit once and for all!

Please tell me more! I would like my spouse to understand this and quit.

Thank you for verifying all that I have believed in for years. Now if we can only get the message out to the smokers.

I respectfully disagree with you. An addiction is an addiction. How can hypnosis reset the brain to actually quit?

(To Lisa): I’ve said something like this in another post… in order to curb one addiction, you have to replace it with another… all hypnosis does is literally rechannel an urge to do one thing to an urge to do another. You aren’t getting rid of the addiction - just the action. Once addicted to something, the addiction NEVER goes away (which, again, in still a different post, I detailed my belief that genetics has a lot to do with what we are pre-disposed to do!)

One of my biggest fears about losing weight is the fear that I might take up smoking to replace my want for food. So far, the weight loss CD’s are working wonders, so I am planning on getting the smoking cessation program, as a stop-gap. I wouldn’t think that the two programs would collide with each other (would they?) I would think that MORE reassurance would be better, not worse! Can anyone tell me what the pitfalls would be for being hypnotized for two things at the same time? I’d like to know!

I haven’t smoked in YEARS, but when I started, nobody even knew or cared about secondhand smoke! When I stopped, partially due to my age and other health reasons, it was around the time when people came to realize that exhaled smoke does as much, if not more, damage. Personally, everyone smokes too much. It’s like too much of a “good” thing. If everyone didn’t over-indulge, it wouldn’t be so bad. Look what over-indulging has done to America’s waistline. Pathetic. I urge you - WHATEVER you can do to stop smoking - DO IT! A little hypnosis, or self-assurance, might be what you need!
