Why having a diet isn't enough
To lose weight, you can't just have a diet. You have to follow through on the diet.
Research backs this statement up:
In a 2005 study of 160 overweight adults, researchers at Tufts-New England Medical Center split people into four diet groups:
- Weight Watchers (low calorie)
- The Zone Diet (low glycemic index)
- The Ornish Diet (low fat)
- The Atkins Diet (low carb)
Here's what they learned: all of these diets worked — when the participants followed them. The problem was that not even one in four was able to stay on their given diet for just one year!
So instead of looking for that "perfect diet," it makes a lot more sense to find a safe way to adhere to your diet.

- A meta-analysis comparing the results of adding hypnosis to weight loss treatment across multiple studies showed that adding hypnosis increased weight loss by an average of 97% during treatment, and even more importantly increased the effectiveness POST TREATMENT by over 146%. This shows that hypnosis works even better over time (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1996).
The bottom line is: when hypnosis sessions are added to various weight loss programs, the results are always better — more than 146% better over the long term!

A: The focus of the program is on eating consciously and healthfully in a way that nurtures your body instead of harming it. And listening to the program tends to help listeners relax and reduce stress. So Enjoying Weight Loss is a solid tool to use against stress eating. What if I'm on a restricted diet?

Q: How long will I listen each day?
A: The longest session in the program is 23 minutes, and the shortest is 13 minutes. We recommmend you listen to one session per day, at least one time per day. If you have time to listen to a particular session twice in one day, great! But it's not required.

You will be using actual hypnosis sessions created by Dr. Roberta Temes, an adjunct professor of psychiatry at the Downstate Medical School of the State University of New York (SUNY), and editor of Medical Hypnosis, the first hypnosis textbook used in medical schools.
This program is not designed to be a "quick fix," as crash diets are neither safe nor effective. Instead, the program is based on medical research conducted on over 5,000 ordinary people who have successfully lost large amounts of weight and kept the weight off for a significant length of time.

How to use this program:
Enjoying Weight Loss comes to you on four CD disks. Except for disk #1, all of the disks consist of two hypnotic tracks. The first disk contains the program introduction, and the first hypnotic track.
- On the first day, we recommend that you listen to the first disk in its entirety and track 1 on the second disk, Weight Loss Essentials. On the second and third day, repeat listening to track 1, on disk 2.
- On the fourth day listen to track 2 on disk 2, Selecting Your Food Plan. This will help you select an eating plan. You might choose Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, South Beach, another healthy plan, or use a custom program from your dietician. As long as the program is healthy and realistic, the hypnosis will help you make it a part of your life. You may only need to listen to this track once, but if you are struggling to find a plan, then listen to it until you choose one.
- After you have selected your plan, listen to the third track on disc 2, Eating Smart. Listen to this session once (or if you have time, twice) a day for 3 days.
- Once you have completed three days with Eating Smart, listen to the next track (Avoiding Temptation) for 3 days. Continue this pattern until you have completed the last session in the program, Maintaining Your Weight Loss. Of course you will not be at your ideal weight yet, but this track helps to instill the idea that weight loss is a long-term lifestyle change.
- By the 19th day, you should have listened to the tracks at least three times each – and you should start noticing that following your healthy eating plan and exercising regularly is becoming easier. Now it is time to choose the sessions that you still need work on.
Most people choose to listen to some combination of Eating Smart, Avoiding Temptation, Exercising Regularly and Appreciating Yourself until reaching their ideal weight. You can start to listen every other day, or at whatever pace feels comfortable. Eventually you will only need to listen to the tracks during times of high stress.
- Once you reach your ideal weight, go back and listen to Maintaining Your Weight Loss for a couple of days.
- You can always go back and listen to any session at any time.
What can I expect in the first 3 weeks?

How do I know if it is working? How will I know if I am actually hypnotized while listening to the sessions?
The experience of hypnosis is different for everyone. For many people, hypnosis is much like reading a good book. You are absorbed, but are still aware of your environment and your internal dialogue.
The depth of the trance has no effect on your results. The best way to notice if the hypnosis is working is to notice your decisions during the day surrounding food and exercise. Gradually, it will be easier and easier to make the right decisions.
Will I lose control?
All hypnosis is essentially self-hypnosis, and hypnosis will actually give you more control over yourself than you had before. Hypnosis cannot make you do anything against your will.
Can I listen while sleeping?
It is not a good idea to listen to the hypnosis sessions while lying down to go to bed. If you fall asleep, the sessions will not be effective. A great time to listen is in the morning when you wake up, or in the evening when you get home from work.
Can I listen while driving?
Absolutely not. Never listen to a hypnosis session while driving or engaged in any activity that requires your attention. Please listen in a quiet place where you will be undisturbed, without operating a vehicle or any dangerous machinery.
