How to have a successful hypnosis experience:
DO NOT LISTEN TO ANY SESSION WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE ENGAGED IN ANY ACTIVITY THAT REQUIRES YOUR ATTENTION.
Anger Mastery is an 16-track downloadable audio hypnosis program with 7 hypnosis sessions. Dr. Jack Singer has created this program to be incremental; in other words, each session builds on the prior one. Therefore, it is recommended that you:
Days 1 through 3:
Listen to the Introduction to Anger Mastery, Introduction to Basic Induction Technique, and also listen to Session 1, Basic Induction Technique. You only need to listen to the Introduction tracks one time. In this track, Dr. Singer explains what you will experience as you enter into the hypnotic trance. This session is to familiarize you with hypnosis.
Days 4 through 6:
Listen to Session 2, Origins of Your Angry Emotions and its Introduction. In this session, you will learn to create a safe, relaxing place where you can to back to anytime you need to calm down and gather yourself together. Once mastered, this technique can be used any time and any place as needed.
Days 7 through 9:
Listen to Session 3, Recognize Your Anger-Producing Thinking Patterns and the Introduction that precedes it. Remember, you only need to listen to each Introduction once. The goal with this session is to identify three "thinking patterns" that lead to anger – over generalizing, jumping to conclusions, and assuming and learn to eliminate them before they begin.
Days 10 through 13:
Listen to the introduction to Session 4, Introduction to Anger-Provocation Triggers and the session, Anger-Provocation Triggers. In this session, you will identify situations that have provoked your anger in the past, and will learn to visualize going through those events again without resorting to an angry response.
Days 14 through 16:
Now you should listen to Session 5, Anger Inoculation. The Introduction to Anger Inoculation only needs to be heard one time. In this session, Dr. Singer arms the listener with a series of "coping statements" for responding to situations without anger.
Days 17 through 19:
Session 6, the Master Control Room, is a visualization exercise. Listen to the Introduction only once. You will create a "control room" inside your brain where you see switches that control your emotions. In this room, you have the ability to come back whenever necessary to change the dials in the control room, dialing down angry emotions and elevating feelings of tranquility and calmness.
Days 20 through 22:
The final Session, Self-Hypnosis, will enable you to bring yourself into the calming, trance-like state that you have created in your work with this program and Dr. Singer. By utilizing self-hypnosis whenever you feel anger start to form, you can immediately call upon the soothing, calming techniques that you have mastered with this program.
Upon completion of Anger Mastery:
Once you've completed the program, you may re-visit any session at any time. You may choose to listen more frequently to sessions that are relevant to you, or you may find a favorite session to re-play over and over. Use this program whenever you begin to feel out of control or if you feel that your response to a situation is not as calm or collected as you would like to be.
Can I be hypnotized? What if I'm "resistant"?
People of average intelligence (unless there is some form of organic brain damage) can be hypnotized in most cases if they are willing and do not resist.
The depth of hypnosis varies with a person's ability to respond. If you are not a naturally responsive subject, you can improve your receptivity to hypnosis with practice.
If you are totally resistant to the intent of the program you are considering, then it's not for you. You can't use hypnosis if you don't want to, because no one can hypnotize you against your will.
How should I use this program for maximum effectiveness?
A comfortable chair is the best place to listen, although a couch will also work. If you are listening to these in bed, for the first cycle it will be best if you do not go into a deep sleep unless so stated by the hypnosis session itself. After the first cycle, you may use the sessions before bedtime (they make great sleep aids). Do not try to listen at your computer – experience shows that it won't work.
These sessions work best when you are undisturbed and comfortable. Please make sure your phone ringer is off and that you will not be disturbed for a 25-minute period. Headphones are OK, but are not necessary.
Listen to only one session a day - the introduction does not count as a session. The sessions are incremental and should be listened to in the order presented on the CDs. We do recommend that you repeat each session at least four times before moving on to the next session. You will find that the programs will be the most effective if you listen at least 5 days a week for a minimum of three weeks . . . changing behavior is not going to happen overnight.
Once you have listened to all the sessions in order, we suggest that you go back and re-listen to the sessions that you find most relevant. The listening order can now be mixed.
If you have multiple programs from The Hypnosis Network, please complete each program separately and completely before moving on to another one.
How do I know if it is working? How will I know if I am actually hypnotized while listening to the sessions?
The experience of hypnosis is different for everyone. For many people, hypnosis is much like reading a good book. You are absorbed, but are still aware of your environment and your internal dialogue.
The depth of the trance has no effect on your results. The best way to notice if the hypnosis is working is to notice your decisions during the day surrounding food and exercise. Gradually, it will be easier and easier to make the right decisions.
Can I listen while sleeping?
It is not a good idea to listen to the hypnosis sessions while lying down to go to bed. If you fall asleep, the sessions will not be effective. A great time to listen is in the morning when you wake up, or in the evening when you get home from work.
Will the program work if I fall asleep while I'm listening?
Probably not, but sometimes hypnosis is confused with sleep. If you wake up at the end of each session, then you were in a deep trance and were not asleep – which is excellent! If you wake up hours later, then you were asleep and the session will not be effective.
What if I stay completely aware during the hypnosis session?
The hypnosis sessions on these CDs are pretty light, meaning that it is not like the movies. You're not going to become a zombie.
Some people experience the sessions in the way you would experience a great work of fiction. You are totally absorbed, but are aware of the outside world. Other people (usually if they are tired or really need the relaxation) get so absorbed that they do not remember listening to the session. Either way, you will get results. The results are not tied to "going under," but instead are tied to the focusing.
Can I listen while driving?
Absolutely not. Never listen to a hypnosis session while driving or engaged in any activity that requires your attention. Please listen in a quiet place where you will be undisturbed, without operating a vehicle or any dangerous machinery.
