How to use Enjoying Weight Loss

This program uses hypnosis to help you adhere to your chosen diet and exercise program. Tens of thousands of people are using the sessions to make losing weight easier, and to ensure that they are able to make an ongoing lifestyle change beyond the normal "yo-yo" dieting scenario that most of us know too well.

The use of hypnosis for weight loss has now been validated in numerous studies. Most importantly, research shows the effects of hypnosis are even more significant over the long term.

You will be using actual hypnosis sessions created by Dr. Roberta Temes, an adjunct professor of psychiatry at the Downstate Medical School of the State University of New York (SUNY), and editor of Medical Hypnosis, the first hypnosis textbook used in medical schools.

This program is not designed to be a "quick fix," as crash diets are neither safe nor effective. Instead, the program is based on medical research conducted on over 5,000 ordinary people who have successfully lost large amounts of weight and kept the weight off for a significant length of time.

This program will help you make ongoing lifestyle changes in your eating and exercise behaviors.

How to use this program – Instructions For CDs:

Enjoying Weight Loss comes to you on four CD disks. Except for disk #1, all of the disks consist of two or three hypnotic tracks. The first disk contains the program introduction, and an introduction to hypnosis.

  1. On the first day, we recommend that you listen to the first disk in its entirety and track 1 on the second disk, Weight Loss Essentials. On the second and third day, repeat listening to track 1, on disk 2.
  2. On the fourth day listen to track 2 on disk 2, Selecting Your Food Plan. This will help you select an eating plan. You might choose Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, South Beach, another healthy plan, or use a custom program from your dietician. As long as the program is healthy and realistic, the hypnosis will help you make it a part of your life. You may only need to listen to this track once, but if you are struggling to find a plan, then listen to it until you choose one.
  3. After you have selected your plan, listen to the third track on disk 2, Eating Smart. Listen to this session once (or if you have time, twice) a day for 3 days.
  4. When you have completed three days with Eating Smart, listen to the next track, Avoiding Temptation, for 3 days. Continue this pattern until you have completed the last session in the program, Maintaining Your Weight Loss. Of course you will not be at your ideal weight yet, but this track helps to instill the idea that weight loss is a long-term lifestyle change.
  5. By the 19th day, you should have listened to the tracks at least three times each – and you should start noticing that following your healthy eating plan and exercising regularly is becoming easier. Now it is time to choose the sessions that you still need work on.

    Most people choose to listen to some combination of Eating Smart, Avoiding Temptation, Exercising Regularly and Appreciating Yourself until reaching their ideal weight. You can start to listen every other day, or at whatever pace feels comfortable. Eventually you will only need to listen to the tracks during times of high stress.
  6. Once you reach your ideal weight, go back and listen to Maintaining Your Weight Loss for a couple of days.
  7. You can always go back and listen to any session at any time.

What can I expect in the first 3 weeks?

After the initial three-week period, you will notice subtle changes to your daily routine. Perhaps you are drinking more water, and snacking less. Maybe you notice yourself eating (and enjoying) more vegetables, or perhaps you are now being satisfied with smaller portion sizes. The changes are not going to hit you over the head like a hammer. They will be subtle, but noticeable.

You will also notice that going into hypnosis becomes easier as you learn to allow the sessions to work for you.

How to use this program – Instructions For MP3:

Enjoying Weight Loss comes to you as a downloadable MP3 format. With the exception of Sessions 1 and 2, the remaining sessions are all hypnotic.

  1. On the first day, we recommend that you listen to the two introduction sessions, Introduction to Weight Loss and Introduction to Hypnosis. You only need to listen to those one time. On the first day, also listen to Session 3, Loss Essentials. On the second and third day, repeat listening to Session 3.
  2. On the fourth day listen to Session 4, Selecting Your Food Plan. This will help you select an eating plan. You might choose Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, South Beach, another healthy plan, or use a custom program from your dietician. As long as the program is healthy and realistic, the hypnosis will help you make it a part of your life. Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I know if it is working? How will I know if I am actually hypnotized while listening to the sessions?

The experience of hypnosis is different for everyone. For many people, hypnosis is much like reading a good book. You are absorbed, but are still aware of your environment and your internal dialogue.

The depth of the trance has no effect on your results. The best way to notice if the hypnosis is working is to notice your decisions during the day surrounding food and exercise. Gradually, it will be easier and easier to make the right decisions.

Will I lose control?

All hypnosis is essentially self-hypnosis, and hypnosis will actually give you more control over yourself than you had before. Hypnosis cannot make you do anything against your will.

Can I listen while sleeping?

It is not a good idea to listen to the hypnosis sessions while lying down to go to bed. If you fall asleep, the sessions will not be effective. A great time to listen is in the morning when you wake up, or in the evening when you get home from work.

Can I listen while driving?

Absolutely not. Never listen to a hypnosis session while driving or engaged in any activity that requires your attention. Please listen in a quiet place where you will be undisturbed, without operating a vehicle or any dangerous machinery.
